Residential
Oakridge House
A contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional Surrey family home, defined by material clarity and refined proportion.
A new-build family home combining a traditional pitched form with a refined contemporary material palette.
Coursed natural stone façade, dark slate roof, steel-framed glazing and a south-facing garden terrace with pool.
Open-plan ground floor living designed to connect seamlessly with outdoor terraced space and mature landscape.
Planning & Form
The design explores a contemporary response to the established residential character of Surrey. A pitched roof form is retained to align with the surrounding context, while the façade is refined through clean geometry and carefully proportioned openings. Large, vertically aligned windows enhance connections to the garden while maintaining a sense of privacy. A recessed entrance introduces depth to the elevation, creating a subtle yet defined threshold.
Materials & Light
A restrained palette of light London stock brick and dark aluminium detailing defines the external character of the house. The façade is treated as a continuous surface, avoiding fragmentation and reinforcing a calm architectural language. Generous glazing allows natural light to penetrate deep into the interior, while warm internal illumination enhances the building's presence during evening conditions.
Realisation
The project is conceived as a buildable and contextually grounded residential scheme, reflecting construction approaches typical of the UK. Emphasis is placed on durability, material authenticity, and proportion. The result is a contemporary home that feels both modern and familiar — delivering a refined yet understated architectural presence within its suburban setting.

The stone, the slate, the light through those full-height doors — it feels like it has always been here. It is exactly the home we imagined, and more than we hoped for.Client, Oakridge House — Cobham, Surrey
